Sport Leagues Referee

Sports Leagues Official (e.g. Football, Netball, Futsal)  
 
Hourly rate: Level 1: £9.90
Level 2: £10.50 (For Football only, entry level refereeing qualification required) 
 
The role will be to set up and officiate matches ensuring Health and Safety of participants. 
 
Key responsibilities include: 
 
• Organise equipment for matches 
• Referee matches in a fair and accurate manner 
• Provide information to customers on fixtures, times and dates, scores, etc 
• Give feedback to line manager on:  
- teams, scores etc 
- pitch conditions 
- need to replace/repair equipment 
• Complete Incident reports with description of incident, injury, place and prevention 
• Advise line manager on any bad behaviour from participating teams and any possible future problems. 
• Obtain receipts from each team as proof of payment 
 
Person Specification 
 
Attainment (e.g. relevant qualifications)  
• First Aid Certificate (or willing to undertake) 
For Level 2 role 
• Entry level football referee qualification is required 
 
Experience (Type of experience and specific knowledge required for this job) 
• Knowledge of the rules of relevant sport 
• Experience of refereeing matches 
• Experience of dealing with and reporting on Health and Safety issues 
 
Competencies (Skills and abilities required for effective performance) 
• Excellent communication skills  
• Excellent interpersonal skills e.g.  
- ability to deal with aggressive play  
- dealing with customer complaints 
• Able to use own initiative 
• Able to take instruction from others  
 
Other information relevant to the post 
• The post will involve evenings, early mornings and weekend work. 
• Some lifting/moving equipment involved, appropriate equipment provided
